Hollie's Travels: Weds 3rd - Thurs 4th June

Weds 3rd June
We drove to Mount Hutt and Mount Somers. Lil's dad drove us in a big 4x4 (equivalent to our Shogun's but more off-road), we had to drive along mile of gravel track but was worth it. One of the spots we saw was filming site for Lord of the Rings. It's where they filmed the Battle of Rohan, however part of the deal was they had to put it back as they found it so we didnt get to see any set, although it does look kind of familiar. I've got no idea how they got the set, actors and all the equipment down those gravel tracks! Was really beautiful, we even had a drink from a natural stream, was very cold! In the evening we had roast New Zealand lamb, then they told us it was running around in the back field a few days ago! haha still tasty though.

Thurs 4th June

Today we were in the car alot, we drove to see Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook. The scenery was again beautiful, and the nearer to Mount Cook you get it becomes a ski town and begins to look a bit like Europe with little log cabins, altho in a much better setting! We had lunch in a little town called Twizal and I had a Kiwi Burger, it was Huge! Burger, mozerella, bacon, pineapple, beetroot, lettuce, couldn't finish it, and it came with chips and was $10.50 (£4), ridiculous!

Lil's Dad drove us again and Julie and her son Daniel came too. (Sam - lil's brother had school).

Not sure what we're up to tomorrow, spent most of the day in the car today so might have a more relaxed day, explore the town a bit more.
